Combine mashed sweet potatoes in a large mixing bowl with beaten egg yolks, cream, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, spices and salt. Beat well. Fold in egg whites. Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake in preheated 400 degree F oven 40-45 minutes. Test for doneness by knife inserted into center.
