This pair of leggings is similar to the leggings worn by the voyageurs in the 19th century while transporting fur in the Northwoods.

Guetre (gay.tr) or leggings were typically made of bright colored wool. Voyageurs had two primary uses for them: to 'blouse' up pants so they did not chafe their legs and to keep leeches from crawling up their body.

The leggings are 37 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide and are sold as a pair.
